Reviewer Guidelines
To maintain and enhance the scientific quality of publications, GENCARE: Journal of Community Service in Health invites qualified academics, healthcare professionals, and practitioners to serve as peer reviewers. Reviewers play a crucial role in ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet appropriate scholarly, ethical, practical, and methodological standards before publication.
Reviewer Qualifications
Prospective reviewers should meet the following qualifications:
- Hold at least a Master's degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in health sciences or a related discipline
- Possess expertise relevant to the journal's scope, such as nursing, midwifery, medicine, pharmacy, nutrition, public health, dentistry, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, mental health, health promotion, health technology, or other health-related fields
- Have knowledge or experience in community service, community empowerment, health education, community-based intervention, or health promotion programs
- Have prior experience reviewing scholarly manuscripts, preferably for national or international journals
- Have published scholarly works in reputable national or international journals
- Have no conflict of interest with the manuscript, authors, institutions, or community partners involved
Review Criteria
In evaluating manuscripts, reviewers are expected to assess the following components:
Relevance and Originality
- Is the topic relevant to the scope of GENCARE?
- Does the manuscript address a meaningful health problem or community need?
- Does the program demonstrate innovation, adaptation, or added value compared with previous community service activities?
- Is the contribution of the activity to health improvement or community empowerment clearly demonstrated?
Title and Abstract
- Does the title accurately reflect the community service activity?
- Is the title concise, informative, and relevant?
- Does the abstract clearly summarize the background, community problem, objectives, methods or intervention, results, and conclusion?
- Are the keywords appropriate and representative of the manuscript?
Introduction
- Is the background of the community or partner problem clearly described?
- Is the health problem supported by relevant evidence, data, or scientific literature?
- Is the rationale for the community service program clearly explained?
- Are the objectives of the activity clearly stated?
Methods / Community Service Methods
- Is the target community, partner, population, or setting clearly described?
- Are the location and duration of the activity clearly stated?
- Are the intervention, education, empowerment, training, screening, or other activities described in sufficient detail?
- Are the stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation clearly explained?
- Is community or partner participation adequately described?
- Are evaluation methods, instruments, or indicators appropriate?
- Are ethical approval, institutional permission, informed consent, or participant protection stated where required?
Results
- Are the results of the community service activity clearly presented?
- Are changes in knowledge, skills, behavior, health indicators, capacity, or other relevant outcomes adequately reported?
- Are tables, figures, photographs, and other documentation relevant and informative?
- Do the reported results correspond to the stated objectives?
- Are claims of impact supported by appropriate data or evidence?
Discussion
- Are the results interpreted appropriately?
- Are findings compared with relevant scientific literature or previous community programs?
- Are factors supporting or limiting program implementation discussed?
- Are practical implications for health services, community empowerment, or future community activities discussed?
- Is the sustainability or potential replication of the program considered?
- Are limitations of the activity appropriately acknowledged?
Community Engagement and Sustainability
- Was the community or partner meaningfully involved in the activity?
- Does the program demonstrate empowerment rather than only one-way service delivery?
- Are there efforts to ensure sustainability after the activity ends?
- Can the program potentially be adapted or replicated in other communities?
Conclusion
- Does the conclusion accurately reflect the results?
- Does it address the objectives of the community service activity?
- Does it highlight the practical benefit or contribution to the target community?
- Are recommendations realistic and relevant?
References
- Are the references relevant, current, and credible?
- Are key scientific sources included?
- Are references used appropriately to support the background and discussion?
- Are citations and references consistent with the journal's required style?
Writing Quality and Structure
- Is the manuscript logically organized and easy to follow?
- Is the academic language clear, concise, and professional?
- Are tables, figures, and photographs appropriately labeled and explained?
- Does the manuscript comply with GENCARE author guidelines?
Reviewer Recommendations
After completing the evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following:
- Accept without revision
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Reviewers are encouraged to provide constructive, specific, and professional comments that help authors improve the scientific quality, clarity, community relevance, and practical contribution of the manuscript.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Maintain strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
- Provide objective, fair, and unbiased feedback
- Disclose any conflicts of interest
- Decline the review if the manuscript is outside the reviewer's expertise
- Report potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, ethical violations, or other misconduct
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of participants and community partners
- Do not use unpublished manuscript content for personal or professional advantage
- Do not upload confidential manuscripts into publicly accessible AI tools or other unauthorized platforms
- Complete the review within the agreed timeframe
By participating in peer review, reviewers contribute to maintaining the quality, credibility, integrity, and community relevance of scholarly publishing in GENCARE: Journal of Community Service in Health.
Untuk menjaga dan meningkatkan kualitas ilmiah publikasi, GENCARE: Journal of Community Service in Health mengundang akademisi, tenaga kesehatan, dan praktisi yang kompeten untuk menjadi reviewer. Reviewer memiliki peran penting dalam memastikan bahwa naskah yang diajukan memenuhi standar ilmiah, etika, praktis, dan metodologis sebelum diterbitkan.
Kualifikasi Reviewer
Calon reviewer diharapkan memenuhi kualifikasi berikut:
- Minimal berpendidikan Magister, dan diutamakan Doktor, pada bidang ilmu kesehatan atau bidang terkait
- Memiliki keahlian sesuai ruang lingkup jurnal, seperti keperawatan, kebidanan, kedokteran, farmasi, gizi, kesehatan masyarakat, kesehatan gigi, fisioterapi, rehabilitasi, kesehatan jiwa, promosi kesehatan, teknologi kesehatan, atau bidang kesehatan lainnya
- Memiliki pengetahuan atau pengalaman dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat, pemberdayaan masyarakat, pendidikan kesehatan, intervensi berbasis komunitas, atau promosi kesehatan
- Memiliki pengalaman sebagai reviewer naskah ilmiah, terutama pada jurnal nasional atau internasional
- Memiliki publikasi ilmiah pada jurnal nasional atau internasional yang bereputasi
- Tidak memiliki konflik kepentingan dengan naskah, penulis, institusi, maupun mitra masyarakat yang terlibat
Kriteria Penilaian
Dalam menilai naskah, reviewer diharapkan mengevaluasi komponen berikut:
Relevansi dan Orisinalitas
- Apakah topik sesuai dengan ruang lingkup GENCARE?
- Apakah naskah membahas masalah kesehatan atau kebutuhan masyarakat yang bermakna?
- Apakah program memiliki unsur inovasi, adaptasi, atau nilai tambah dibanding kegiatan pengabdian sebelumnya?
- Apakah kontribusi kegiatan terhadap peningkatan kesehatan atau pemberdayaan masyarakat terlihat jelas?
Judul dan Abstrak
- Apakah judul mencerminkan kegiatan pengabdian yang dilaksanakan?
- Apakah judul ringkas, informatif, dan relevan?
- Apakah abstrak merangkum latar belakang, masalah mitra, tujuan, metode atau intervensi, hasil, dan kesimpulan?
- Apakah kata kunci sesuai dengan isi naskah?
Pendahuluan
- Apakah latar belakang masalah masyarakat atau mitra dijelaskan secara jelas?
- Apakah masalah kesehatan didukung data, bukti, atau literatur ilmiah yang relevan?
- Apakah alasan pelaksanaan program pengabdian dijelaskan dengan baik?
- Apakah tujuan kegiatan dinyatakan secara jelas?
Metode Pengabdian
- Apakah sasaran masyarakat, mitra, populasi, atau setting dijelaskan dengan jelas?
- Apakah lokasi dan waktu pelaksanaan kegiatan disebutkan?
- Apakah bentuk intervensi, edukasi, pemberdayaan, pelatihan, skrining, atau kegiatan lainnya dijelaskan secara memadai?
- Apakah tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi dijelaskan dengan jelas?
- Apakah keterlibatan masyarakat atau mitra dijelaskan?
- Apakah metode evaluasi, instrumen, atau indikator keberhasilan sesuai?
- Apakah aspek ethical approval, izin institusi, informed consent, atau perlindungan peserta disebutkan bila diperlukan?
Hasil
- Apakah hasil kegiatan pengabdian disajikan secara jelas?
- Apakah perubahan pengetahuan, keterampilan, perilaku, indikator kesehatan, kapasitas, atau outcome lain dilaporkan secara memadai?
- Apakah tabel, gambar, foto, dan dokumentasi lain relevan?
- Apakah hasil sesuai dengan tujuan kegiatan?
- Apakah klaim mengenai manfaat atau dampak didukung data atau bukti yang memadai?
Pembahasan
- Apakah hasil diinterpretasikan dengan tepat?
- Apakah hasil dibandingkan dengan literatur ilmiah atau program pengabdian sebelumnya?
- Apakah faktor pendukung dan penghambat program dibahas?
- Apakah implikasi bagi pelayanan kesehatan, pemberdayaan masyarakat, atau kegiatan berikutnya dijelaskan?
- Apakah keberlanjutan atau potensi replikasi program dibahas?
- Apakah keterbatasan kegiatan dijelaskan secara wajar?
Keterlibatan dan Keberlanjutan Masyarakat
- Apakah masyarakat atau mitra terlibat secara bermakna?
- Apakah program menunjukkan unsur pemberdayaan, bukan hanya pemberian layanan satu arah?
- Apakah terdapat upaya menjaga keberlanjutan program setelah kegiatan selesai?
- Apakah program berpotensi diterapkan atau direplikasi pada komunitas lain?
Kesimpulan
- Apakah kesimpulan sesuai dengan hasil kegiatan?
- Apakah kesimpulan menjawab tujuan pengabdian?
- Apakah manfaat praktis bagi masyarakat dijelaskan?
- Apakah rekomendasi realistis dan relevan?
Referensi
- Apakah referensi relevan, terkini, dan kredibel?
- Apakah sumber ilmiah utama telah digunakan?
- Apakah referensi mendukung latar belakang dan pembahasan?
- Apakah sitasi dan daftar pustaka sesuai gaya jurnal?
Kualitas Penulisan dan Struktur
- Apakah naskah tersusun secara sistematis?
- Apakah bahasa akademik jelas, ringkas, dan profesional?
- Apakah tabel, gambar, dan foto diberi keterangan yang sesuai?
- Apakah naskah telah mengikuti Author Guidelines GENCARE?
Rekomendasi Reviewer
Setelah melakukan penilaian, reviewer dapat memberikan salah satu rekomendasi berikut:
- Diterima tanpa revisi
- Revisi Minor
- Revisi Mayor
- Ditolak
Reviewer diharapkan memberikan komentar yang konstruktif, spesifik, dan profesional untuk membantu penulis meningkatkan kualitas ilmiah, kejelasan, relevansi bagi masyarakat, serta kontribusi praktis dari naskah.
Tanggung Jawab Etika Reviewer
- Menjaga kerahasiaan seluruh naskah
- Memberikan penilaian yang objektif, adil, dan tidak bias
- Mengungkapkan setiap konflik kepentingan
- Menolak review apabila topik berada di luar kompetensi reviewer
- Melaporkan dugaan plagiarisme, publikasi ganda, manipulasi data, pelanggaran etika, atau misconduct lainnya
- Menjaga privasi dan kerahasiaan peserta serta mitra masyarakat
- Tidak menggunakan isi naskah yang belum dipublikasikan untuk keuntungan pribadi atau profesional
- Tidak mengunggah naskah rahasia ke platform AI publik atau layanan lain yang tidak berwenang
- Menyelesaikan proses review sesuai waktu yang telah disepakati
