Reference Manager Usage
All manuscripts submitted to GENCARE: Journal of Community Service in Health must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition citation style for both in-text citations and the reference list.
Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or other equivalent tools, to ensure the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and proper formatting of references.

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that all references are complete, accurate, relevant, traceable, and correspond precisely to the sources cited in the manuscript before submission.
References should support the scientific rationale, community or partner health problem, intervention or empowerment strategy, evaluation methods, results, and discussion of the reported community service activity.
Reference Requirements
Manuscripts submitted to GENCARE must meet the following reference requirements:
- Minimum 20 references
- References should preferably be published within the last 10 years
- At least 85% of references should be journal articles
- Priority should be given to peer-reviewed and credible scientific sources
- Authors are encouraged to cite reputable national and international journals
- A DOI should be provided whenever available
- A stable URL may be provided when a DOI is unavailable
- References must be directly relevant to the topic and content of the manuscript
Authors should prioritize original journal articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, evidence-based guidelines, and other credible scientific sources. Excessive use of blogs, commercial websites, non-scientific sources, or unverifiable references should be avoided.
Reference Accuracy and Verification
Authors must verify every reference before manuscript submission. The journal does not accept fabricated, incomplete, misleading, or unverifiable references.
Authors should particularly verify:
- Author names and order
- Year of publication
- Article or document title
- Journal title
- Volume and issue
- Page range or article number
- DOI
- URL where applicable
DOI links must correspond to the actual cited publication. Authors remain responsible for references generated, suggested, or formatted using Artificial Intelligence or other automated tools.
In-Text Citation
In-text citations must follow APA 7th Edition. Authors should ensure consistency between every citation appearing in the manuscript and the corresponding entry in the reference list.

Before submitting the manuscript, authors should ensure that:
- Every in-text citation appears in the reference list
- Every reference listed is cited in the manuscript
- Author names and publication years are consistent
- DOIs are accurate and functional where available
- References follow APA 7th Edition consistently
- References are relevant to the community service topic
- No fabricated or unverifiable references are included

Penggunaan Reference Manager
Seluruh naskah yang dikirimkan ke GENCARE: Journal of Community Service in Health wajib mengikuti gaya sitasi APA (American Psychological Association) edisi ke-7 baik untuk sitasi dalam teks maupun daftar pustaka.
Penulis sangat dianjurkan menggunakan perangkat lunak reference manager, seperti Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, atau perangkat sejenis untuk memastikan akurasi, konsistensi, kelengkapan, dan format referensi.

Penulis bertanggung jawab memastikan seluruh referensi lengkap, akurat, relevan, dapat ditelusuri, dan benar-benar sesuai dengan sumber yang disitasi sebelum naskah dikirimkan.
Referensi harus mendukung dasar ilmiah, masalah kesehatan masyarakat atau mitra, strategi intervensi atau pemberdayaan, metode evaluasi, hasil, serta pembahasan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaporkan.
Persyaratan Referensi
Naskah harus memenuhi ketentuan referensi berikut:
- Minimal 20 referensi
- Diutamakan terbit dalam 10 tahun terakhir
- Sekurang-kurangnya 85% berasal dari artikel jurnal
- Mengutamakan sumber ilmiah yang peer-reviewed dan kredibel
- Dianjurkan menggunakan jurnal nasional dan internasional bereputasi
- DOI harus dicantumkan apabila tersedia
- URL yang stabil dapat dicantumkan apabila DOI tidak tersedia
- Referensi harus memiliki relevansi langsung dengan isi naskah
Penulis dianjurkan mengutamakan artikel jurnal asli, systematic review, meta-analysis, evidence-based guideline, serta sumber ilmiah kredibel lainnya. Penggunaan blog, website komersial, sumber nonilmiah, atau referensi yang tidak dapat diverifikasi harus diminimalkan.
Akurasi dan Verifikasi Referensi
Setiap referensi wajib diverifikasi sebelum naskah dikirimkan. GENCARE tidak menerima referensi fiktif, tidak lengkap, menyesatkan, atau tidak dapat diverifikasi.
Penulis harus memeriksa:
- Nama dan urutan penulis
- Tahun publikasi
- Judul artikel atau dokumen
- Nama jurnal
- Volume dan nomor
- Halaman atau article number
- DOI
- URL apabila relevan
DOI harus benar-benar mengarah pada publikasi yang disitasi. Penulis tetap bertanggung jawab penuh terhadap referensi yang dihasilkan, disarankan, atau diformat menggunakan Artificial Intelligence maupun perangkat otomatis lainnya.
Sitasi dalam Teks
Sitasi dalam teks harus mengikuti APA 7th Edition. Setiap sitasi dalam naskah harus memiliki pasangan yang sesuai dalam daftar pustaka.
- Satu penulis: (Suryani, 2019)
- Dua penulis: (Wibowo & Adianti, 2021)
- Tiga penulis atau lebih: (Sumiari et al., 2021)
Contoh Referensi (APA 7th Edition)
Contoh penulisan referensi mengikuti format yang ditampilkan pada bagian English di atas dan berlaku sama untuk naskah berbahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa Inggris.
Penulis harus memperhatikan bahwa format akhir referensi harus mengikuti APA 7th Edition secara konsisten, termasuk penggunaan italic, tanda baca, urutan nama penulis, tahun, judul, nama jurnal, volume, nomor, halaman, serta DOI atau URL.
Pemeriksaan Akhir Referensi
Sebelum mengirimkan naskah, penulis harus memastikan bahwa:
- Setiap sitasi dalam teks terdapat dalam daftar pustaka
- Setiap referensi dalam daftar pustaka telah disitasi di dalam naskah
- Nama penulis dan tahun publikasi konsisten
- DOI benar dan aktif apabila tersedia
- Seluruh referensi konsisten mengikuti APA 7th Edition
- Referensi relevan dengan topik pengabdian kepada masyarakat
- Tidak terdapat referensi fiktif atau tidak dapat diverifikasi
